As we head into the holidays and the end of the calendar year, it is time for me to update everyone on the Friends’ and the library’s activities. Friends’ Activities Earlier this year, the La Mesa City Council hired a consultant with the expertise to present feasible options for providing a larger and more functional library building. That consultant is now meeting with city and library staff. As part of the process, the consultant will survey city residents to gauge your opinions of the library and its needs. Happy Holidays to all! It is the time of year to take stock of our organization. The following are the highlights of where we are and where we seem to be going: Friends News & Activities Library Task Force. The City of La Mesa has appointed a seven-member citizens Library Task Force to research options for expanding the La Mesa Branch of the San Diego County Library commensurate to our Community’s size. I hope all of our Friends members and patrons of the La Mesa Library are doing well during this COVID 19 pandemic and quarantine. This message is to bring you up to date on the library and the Friends activities. Library Operational Issues San Diego County Library (SDCL) is developing a robust plan for ensuring the health and safety of library staff and customers. The La Mesa Library will launch door-side pickup service on Thursday, June 25. For information on door-side service, please visit our website at www.sdcl.org. At this time, we will not be accepting returned materials but all due dates have been extended to July 31 and we will not be charging late fees.
